All the tech companies are trying to follow the trend of adapting to a greener energy source. Google, Facebook, Microsoft and other top companies have been doing their rounds in this field. Apple Inc. is not behind any of these. Apple is trying to put in their resources for a greener environment and energy. Recently, Elon Musk has announced a plan with Australia and US to build a huge renewable energy farm to produce greener energy.
Apple’s Take On China’s Clean Energy Project
Apple has done similar things. Recently, Apple has decided to put in their money in China’s Clean Energy Program. Apple Inc. along with its 10 other suppliers will be putting in $300 million as funds for the project. The money will be sanctioned over the span of four years to the Clean Energy Project. This contribution from Apple and 10 other suppliers will generate nearly 1 Gigawatt of power. It will be sufficient to power nearly 1 million houses within the country. Apple has also said that by 2020, they are aiming to create 4 Gigawatt of clean energy resources throughout the world. The top supplier companies which will be working with Apple are Catcher Technology, Pegatron, Wistron, Luxshare-ICT and so on. The funds for the project will be managed by the DWS Group GmbH & Co. The asset-management of the group will also be investing in the Clean Energy Project.
Apple’s Step Towards Clean Energy
Earlier in 2015, Apple had announced that it will be working to develop clean energy for its usage and the world. In its mission to do so, Apple Inc. has taken quite a lot of steps. They have signed many deals with US companies for going green. Now, Apple Inc. officially announced that 100% of their company’s resources available globally works under renewable resources.
Lisa Jackson, Apple’s VP of Environment Policy said that “We are always trying to partner with the companies that are addressing the climate change issue seriously. We have our own Supplier Clean Energy Program wherein we are helping 23 manufacturing partners to work on clean energy. We are also helping our aluminium suppliers Alcoa Corp and Rio Tinto to reach the 100% mark by 2024. With the response we are getting from our partners, we are so happy. We are trying to replicate the model globally to make our planet a better place. Along with the US, we are trying to increase our partner reach in Europe and China too”.
Along with Apple, Samsung has also said that they will achieve the 100 percentile mark within the next two years globally. With the advancement and support of the top tech companies, the condition of our planet will improve a lot and Apple is trying to do so.
