An App That Can Predict Future Pandemics?
Covid-19 pandemic was sudden, and the world was not ready for it! But what if we already knew pandemics that could happen in the future?
There are approx. 1.7 million viruses on earth and more than half of those could very well start the next major pandemic.
Scientists created a new AI tool called “SpillOver”, that directly scans & analyses hundreds of viruses that have a higher risk of causing a pandemic based on its effect on humans, transmission rate, and other 32 factors.
A virus that poses threat to humans, goes to the top of the watchlist. Then, scientists can study those viruses and might find a cure for them. Currently, the tool has ranked 887 viruses. Topping the list were 12 known viruses including Covid-19, which currently ranks second out of the 887 viruses.
With the use of this tool, we can prevent future pandemics and be prepared for it! But, crazy scientists can also use this to find and modify a virus in the lab and use it as a bio-weapon. Do you really think, this app can predict future pandemics?
What If We Drilled Through The Moon?
Have you ever wondered what might be inside of the moon which was formed by the impact of asteroids millions of years ago? It’s still a mystery what’s inside the moon. But to get through it, we would need to dig over 3,000 km. And with today’s technology, doing this would take about 1,300 years.
Moon’s outer layer is made up of Regolith which is billions of years of crushed asteroids and moon dust. It can easily damage your suit and if inhaled, it can cause lung cancer.
When we continue to drill through the layers of the Moon, we might find some rare materials like Titanium and Aluminium. And we might also find a hidden alien base there. Just kidding! If we drill thousands of kilometers deep and reach the center of the Moon, the gravity will reach zero, and you’ll be completely weightless, floating in the Moon’s inner core.
And if we still continue to dig through the Moon, it might start to vibrate a bit due to imbalance. According to some scientists, drilling through the Moon is the same as drilling through a glass which means the Moon might tear apart in pieces.
Scientists have already started to dig a hole on the Moon’s surface, do you think it’s a good idea?
