Invention: Wi-Fi is an accidental Invention

Wi-Fi is a technology that allows devices to communicate without internet cords. To be specific from technical point of view, Wi-Fi represents a type of wireless LAN (Local Area Network). It works on the 802.11 IEEE network standard.

Today, Wi-Fi is the most popular wireless data communication technique, within a fixed location. Wi-Fi Alliance, an international association of many companies involved in wireless LAN technologies has the trademark of Wi-Fi technology.

Accidental Invention of Wi-Fi

But, do you know how was the Wi-Fi technology invented? The story of its invention lies around the Stephen Hawking’s theory of evaporating black holes and their following radio waves. A scientist named John O’Sullivan was inspired by this theory and wanted to prove it correct. So, while proving this theory, he found these weak signals (radio waves) to be difficult to differentiate from the louder background noise (radio waves) of the entire universe.
